BEAUTY FOOD: the vitamin and antioxidants smoothie 🧡

“We are what we eat” this old maxim is always actual  for me because food, besides being a pleasure, is also a cure and that is why it is very important to carefully choose the foods we eat every day. It is certainly no secret that a clean diet rich in vegetables, fruits, pulses and whole grains brings many benefits to our bodies and our skin.

That is why I thought to include in the anāhita magazine, a “Beauty Food” section where I will talk to you about foods that benefit the beauty of the skin and provide you with inspirations and ideas on how to easily prepare foods that are particularly good for the health of the skin, hair and more…

So let’s start with one of my favorite preparations: smoothies. I love smoothies in any season because they make fruits and vegetables even more delicious, they are quick, very nutritious and beautiful looking  because se eat also with our eyes. To make super creamy smoothies, it is essential to have a high-speed blender, like the Vitamix. These blenders with very powerful motor homogenize all the ingredients perfectly making the texture of smoothies super velvety and pleasant. Of course, a high-speed blender has many other uses in the kitchen: for me, there is a before and an after and I couldn’t live without it!

Let me preface this by saying that to make smoothies you don’t need to have an actual recipe: I suggest combinations that are now super-tested by me but nothing happens if you put a little more of one ingredient rather than another, in fact I recommend adjusting the combinations according to your taste.

So let’s get to know the Vitamin and Antioxidant Smoothie!

The ingredients are: raspberries (fresh or frozen) I put quite a few because they are delicious! An apple, one or two carrots, a couple of yellow or green kiwis fruits, an orange, a piece of fresh peeled turmeric, a piece of fresh peeled ginger, the juice of a lemon and a tablespoon of cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil. Place all the ingredients in the blender with a few ice cubes (this is to keep the ingredients from oxidizing) and blend until smooth and velvety. Pour it into a glass, sprinkle it with some cinnamon powder and decorate it according to your imagination.

This smoothie is packed with foods that have strong antioxidant properties (if you want to know more about antioxidants read here), anti-inflammatory, rich in vitamins and minerals. The addition of the oil serves precisely to optimize our body’s assimilation of the nutrients.
